How Driver Pay Works

Driving with Via in St. Louis means earning hourly pay, not per trip. Your scheduled hours determine your earnings, so pay is consistent and reliable.

Base Hourly Pay

Drivers are paid a guaranteed hourly rate for every scheduled shift. Rates differ depending on whether you’re driving a standard vehicle or a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV).

Fleet Vehicle Provided with Zipcar

Via provides the vehicle, fuel, insurance, and maintenance. A low rental fee applies and is automatically deducted from your pay before it’s issued.

Weekly Pay

  • Monday afternoon: You’ll receive your email earnings statement.

  • *Tuesday afternoon: Your pay is deposited.

*Pay may be delayed by 1 business day due to Federal Banking Holidays

Base Hourly Pay

  • Non-WAV: $28.03/hour

  • WAV: $30.03/hour

Fleet Vehicle Rental Fee

  • $9.20/hour, automatically deducted from pay

Base Take-Home (after rental fee)

  • Non-WAV: $18.83/hour

  • WAV: $20.83/hour

Current Promotions (as of September 8, 2025)

North Zone Pay

When driving in the North Zone, you’ll earn an additional hourly bonus. This bonus is entered manually each Monday and will not show in the Driver App. It will appear as a separate line item (“North Zone Pay”) on your weekly earnings statement.

  • +$2/hour | 4:30 AM – 10:30 PM

  • +$5/hour | 10:31 PM – 1:30 AM

All Zone Drive Time Promo

  • Drive 45 hours (Monday–Sunday) and earn $225.

  • Breaks do not count toward drive time.  You must be available and providing service for 45 hours to qualify.

  • This promo cannot be combined with the North Zone Drive Time Promo.

North Zone Drive Time Promo

  • Drive 45 hours (Monday–Sunday) and earn $275.

  • Breaks do not count toward drive time. You must be available and providing service for 45 hours to qualify.

  • This promo cannot be combined with the All Zone Drive Time Promo.

Driver Referrals

  • $100 per referral

  • Your referral must complete 10 hours of driving within 30 days of their onboarding.

  • You must have also completed 10 hours of driving in the last 30 days to qualify.

  • Referrals must be friends, family, or personal contacts — not shared on public websites or forums.

    These fees are charged by Zipcar, not Via, and will appear as deductions if they apply:

    • Late Cancel (less than 24 hours’ notice): $25

    • No Show: $40

    • Lost Gas Card: $100

    The Fine Print

    Promotions Terms and conditions: To be eligible, you must complete the terms of the promotion as listed. Breaks taken during driving hours will not be included in these promotions. These promotions may be revoked or altered at any time at Via’s sole discretion, and these Terms are subject to change at Via’s sole discretion.

    Referrals Terms and conditions: Eligibility is limited to qualified referrals, as determined by Via in its sole discretion. A qualified referral must (1) complete at least 10 hours of driving on the Via platform within 30 days of finishing driver onboarding and (2) be referred by a current driver who has also completed at least 10 hours of driving on the platform within 30 days of finishing driver onboarding. Breaks taken during driving hours will not be included in this 10-hour minimum

    A qualified referral can only be counted once. The intended purpose of the referral program is to enable participants to share referral details with friends, family, and individuals on personal social media networks who are known personally by the referring rider. Participants are not eligible for referral promotions for referrals made through public websites including forums, blogs, or coupon code aggregators. Via reserves the right to disqualify drivers from future participation in the referral program and/or to rescind any referral promotions granted to a driver if Via determines that  such driver violated these Terms. This promotion may be revoked or altered at any time at Via’s sole discretion, and these Terms are subject to change at Via’s sole discretion, including after a referral has been made.
