Via’s Vehicle Threshold and Access to the Via System

Via’s Vehicle Threshold makes sure that Via driver partners have plenty of work and keep earning consistent, hourly rates with Via. The threshold applies to all vehicles trying to access the Via System. However, drivers can improve individual access by providing great experiences for Via riders.

How do you get better access under the Via Vehicle Threshold?

  • System Performance

    Drive like a pro!

    Be on time:

    • Leave your terminal on time
    • Only press "I'm here" when you are actually at the pick up point or terminal

    Be professional:

    • Stop at the corner shown in your ViaPartner app, and contact the Via team if traffic forces you to move elsewhere
    • Politely confirm the customer's name when they enter the vehicle
    • Avoid missing pickups
    • Avoid pressing "no show" before waiting 2min for the rider

  • Attendance

    Be a consistent Via driver partner

    • Drive more peak hours, from 7-9 AM and 5-8 PM

  • Rider Feedback

    Be friendly and polite to Via customers

    • Earn high rider ratings and positive feedback

How is Vehicle Threshold access measured?

Vehicle Threshold access is not based on any single ride or piece of customer feedback.  It is based on your entire history of partnering with Via.  This ensures that your access to the Via system reflects your overall performance and customer feedback while driving with Via, not just a single ride.  Each week, you will continue to get updates with your customer ratings and feedback.

A few important things to remember about Via’s Vehicle Threshold:

Midday Breaks

As long as you complete at least 2 hours of driving with Via, you can sign back in at any time that day, regardless of the threshold.

Threshold Adjustments

The threshold is based on rider demand. The threshold is higher during times of high demand (Morning & Evening Peaks), the threshold is lower during times of lower demand (Off Peak hours).

Beat the Rush

Sign in before or during the peak hours in order to have the best access to the Via System.

Drivers are constantly checking in and out, if you aren’t able to sign in due to the threshold try again in a bit!
