Via Routing Update

Improve Via’s Routes!

The Via System has been updated to make adjusting your route easier!

  • The route will recalculate if you need to deviate for any reason
  • Avoid obstacles and traffic by choosing a better route to your next Pickup or Dropoff if needed
  • You no longer need to check in with the Via Operations Team before adjusting your route
  • Stay on Avenues & Streets (no highway driving with Via)
  • Aim to stay on the route ~90% of the time, only choose a new route when absolutely necessary

Review these points:

  • Smart Routing

The route will recalculate if you need to change for any reason. This means that you don’t need to check in with the Via Operations Team before changing your route!

  • Set Pickups & Dropoffs

Your Pickups and Dropoffs will remain set, so you are always heading to the destination at the top of your Task List in the Via Driver App.

  • Avoid Obstacles

If you encounter an obstacle such as a garbage truck or an unexpected street closure on your route, please adjust your route as needed to get to your destination more quickly.

  • Avoid Traffic

Similarly, if you are stuck in traffic or see an alternative way to get somewhere that will benefit all of the riders in your car, please adjust your route accordingly – there is no need to call the Via Operations Team! Use your best judgement to help all riders get to where they are going as quickly as possible.

  • Routing for Shared Ride

Remember, since Via is a shared ride you cannot take the highways or make changes to the route that will result in missing a Pickup or Dropoff. Since the route allows us to plan and book Via’s shared ride, we still expect drivers to stick with the route ~90% of the time.
